From Domaine Georges Vernay in France's Condrieu appellation, the Terrasses de l'Empire 2020 is a refined 100% Viognier sourced from steep, south-facing granitic terraces in the heart of the appellation, with vines averaging 35-50 years old that impart exceptional concentration and minerality. Hand-harvested grapes from the warm yet balanced 2020 vintage undergo gentle pressing, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and oak barrels, and 12 months' aging on fine lees with regular bâtonnage to enhance texture and complexity. Certified organic since 2009 under Christine Vernay, this production yields a pale gold wine with green highlights and majestic harmony.

Tasting Notes An elegant, aromatic white with stone fruit and floral finesse, reflecting Condrieu's granitic terroir. The nose reveals apricot, peach, honeysuckle, and hints of almond and white flowers. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet precise, with vibrant acidity, creamy texture, and flavors of ripe stone fruit, citrus pith, and subtle spice, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2020 Terrasses de l'Empire earned 96 points from James Suckling for its fantastic richness, creamy texture, and long, refined finish.
