(Decanter Score 92 on vintage 2018) Purchased in 2002 by Jacky Blot, this small estate in Bourgueil is operated following the same philosophy as at Domaine de La Taille aux Loups. As the name suggests, this wine is sourced from vines grown at the foot of the hill on chalky soils. It has a violet-tinged nose with plummy hedgerow fruits, while in the mouth it's full of peppery spice, mulchy damp earth and rich chocolate, leading to a dry finish.

This wine is produced from 100% Cabernet Franc. Certified organic. The vines are of 35+ years old. Completely destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, fermented and aged in a mix of cement and older barrels. Unfined and unfiltered.
