From Château La Nerthe in France’s Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation, the Les Cassagnes Rouge 2022 is a refined blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre sourced from over 40-year-old vines on sandy and limestone soils with calcareous rocks that provide natural filtration and vibrant freshness. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage—characterized by moderate conditions yielding concentrated yet fresh fruit—undergo fermentation in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by 12 months' aging in foudres to enhance elegance and purity. As an organic production from a historic estate dating to 1560, this yields a bright garnet wine with purple hints and approachable intensity.

Tasting Notes An elegant, harmonious red with ripe cherries and herbal vibrancy, reflecting Côtes du Rhône Villages’ diverse terroir. The nose displays ripe cherries, strawberries, and subtle garrigue with lavender and peppery undertones. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and silky, with supple tannins, vibrant acidity, and flavors of red fruits, mint, and spice, leading to a long, balanced finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Les Cassagnes Rouge earned 92 points from James Suckling for its round fruit and velvety texture.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled poultry, Provençal stews, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now through 2030, developing greater earthy and garrigue complexities over time.
