From the acclaimed Ferdinando Principiano winery in Serralunga d’Alba, Piedmont, the Barolo Serralunga 2016 is a traditional red from select vineyard parcels. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, sourced from vines on limestone and clay soils at 350–400 meters, it’s hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel. Aged 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks, it offers a garnet hue with vibrant complexity.

Tasting Notes

A powerful, elegant red with rich red fruit and earthy finesse, showcasing Barolo’s heritage.
The nose reveals red cherry, rose petal, and dried herbs, with hints of truffle, graphite, and spice. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and refined, with vibrant acidity, firm tannins, and flavors of red fruit, licorice, and a long, mineral finish.

Awards and Accolades

The 2016 Barolo Serralunga earned 93 points from James Suckling."This is really perfumed with cherry, cedar and tar aromas that follow through to a full body with round tannins and a juicy finish. Some chocolate. Even a peanut undertone. Drink or hold."

Food Pairings

Pair this red with Western dishes like braised beef or aged cheeses to highlight its fruit and spice. For Chinese cuisine, try 紅燒獅子頭, 乳豬, 炸子雞, 北京烤鴨, 腊味煲仔飯, or 梅菜扣肉 to complement its rich texture and savory depth. Ideal for hearty dinners or festive occasions.
