From Giuseppe Quintarelli in Italy’s Veneto, the Primofiore 2022 is a refined blend of 50% local grapes (Corvina Veronese and Corvinone) and 50% international grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc), sourced from hillside vineyards in Negrar on calcareous-clay soils that impart balance and depth. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage undergo partial appassimento for some lots, fermentation in stainless steel, and over one year in Slavonian oak barrels, shifting toward a fresher, drier style. As the estate’s entry-level red from the legendary Quintarelli family, this production yields a deep ruby wine with remarkable approachability and personality.

Tasting Notes An earthy, iris-root scented Valpolicella with dark currant and floral elements over a medium-lean texture, showing menthol, violets, red fruits, herbaceous undertones, and food-friendly freshness. The nose reveals enchanting menthol notes, violets, and red fruits with underlying herbaceous and earthy character. On the palate, it is soft, fresh, tasty, medium-bodied, and well-balanced, with floral and herbal elements.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Primofiore earned 93 points from Monica Larner (Wine Advocate) for its earthy sensations with iris root and dark currant, giving it an especially food-friendly personality.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 16-18°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with pasta dishes, grilled meats, or charcuterie. Enjoy now through 2032, during which it will develop more herbal and earthy layers.
