Terroir, History & Acclaim
- 96 Points - James Suckling: Be prepared to be overwhelmed by this dry riesling masterpiece. Deep and very refined nose of pineapple and mandarin orange. As it aerates notes of orange blossom and orange cream emerge. All the power, concentration and ripeness we expect from this famous Grand Cru with a balance that’s so spot on it takes your breath away. Incredibly long finish! From 70 year old vines growing on granite. Enormous aging potential! From organically grown grapes. Drink from release.

95+ Points - Stephan Reinhardt (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate):
From two one-hectare plots, one on pure granite and the other on granite with limestone, Trimbach's 2021 Riesling Grand Cru Brand opens with a clear and elegant, very seductive but coolish and refined bouquet of ripe fruits with finely flinty, weathered granite notes. Round and lush on the remarkably fine and elegant palate, with rather smooth acidity but also intense and persistent minerality and fine tannin structure for 2021, this is a quite open and charming 2021 that was bottled with 13.5% stated alcohol and 10 grams per liter of residual sugar. This is not really an off-dry Riesling but a generous, lush, very elegant and well-balanced Brand that already tastes beautifully but can be kept for at least 25 years. Bottled under natural cork in April 2022. Tasted at the domaine in April 2024 and again on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Clos Ste Hune at the beginning of November, with an even better result. The Brand is very clear and spicy on the deep and ripe, mineral and herbal nose that indicates elegant fruit. Round on the palate, with some sweetness yet lots of salt and fine, crystalline acidity, this is a generous yet elegant and well-balanced Riesling with persistent salinity, fine tannin structure and a long and aromatic finish.
- The Sun-Drenched Granite of Grand Cru Brand: Located in Turckheim, Grand Cru Brand ("land of fire") is renowned for its steep, south-facing slopes composed of coarse Turckheim granite. This unique soil absorbs heat during the day and radiates it at night, giving Riesling unmatched aromatic generosity married to intense, chiseled minerality.
- Centuries of Trimbach Purity: Founded in 1626, Maison Trimbach is world-famous for its uncompromising commitment to a bone-dry, age-worthy Alsatian style. Fermented cool in stainless steel and aged in large neutral oak vats, their Grand Cru Brand showcases laser-like fruit expression without wood interference.
Highlights
- 100% Riesling harvested from prime granite soils in the renowned Grand Cru Brand vineyard in Turckheim, Alsace.
- A radiant 2021 Grand Cru release combining white peach, citrus zest, and intense crushed granite minerality.
- Crafted in Trimbach's signature bone-dry style, offering impressive cellaring potential over 15 to 25+ years.
Tasting Notes
- Appearance: Pale straw-gold with brilliant greenish-yellow reflections.
- Nose: Intensely mineral, pristine, and precise. It opens with aromas of white peach, mirabelle plum, and fresh lemon peel, complemented by crushed granite, lemongrass, and subtle white blossom nuances.
- Palate: Bone-dry, medium-to-full-bodied, and laser-focused. The entry delivers a concentrated wave of orchard fruit sap before electric granite acidity takes over, driving into an exceptionally long, dry, and salty mineral finish.
Serving Suggestion
- Temperature: Serve slightly cool at 10–12°C to allow its tight acidity and fine mineral aromatics to uncoil fully.
- Decanting: A 30-to-45 minute decant is recommended if opening early to let its granite structure soften. Cellar-worthy through 2040+.
- Western Pairing: Seared scallops, pan-seared sea bass, lobster Thermidor, roast pork loin, or aged Munster cheese.
- Asian Pairing: Steamed grouper with ginger and spring onions, butter-braised king prawns, Thai green curry, or Cantonese dim sum.
