From Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in France's Alsace region, the Gewurztraminer Goldert Grand Cru 2018 is a refined 100% Gewurztraminer sourced from the historic Goldert Grand Cru vineyard in Gueberschwihr, a family holding for generations on east-facing slopes at 250-350 meters elevation with marine oolithic limestone soils that impart exceptional minerality and balance. Hand-harvested grapes from the dry, warm 2018 vintage—marked by mild winters, dry springs, and late-September rains yielding concentrated yet balanced fruit—undergo extended pressing, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, and lees aging to enhance complexity and terroir expression. As a biodynamic pioneer since 1998 under Olivier Humbrecht, this production yields a golden wine with remarkable depth and elegance.

Tasting Notes An elegant, aromatic white with ripe stone fruit and floral spice, reflecting Alsace's limestone terroir. The nose reveals intense lychee, pear, rose petals, and hints of Asian spices, dried fruit, and honey. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and harmonious, with vibrant acidity, subtle residual sweetness, and flavors of candied lemon, orange, juicy pear, ripe mirabelle, and yellow peach, leading to a long, balanced finish with mineral tension.

Awards and Accolades The 2018 Gewurztraminer Goldert Grand Cru earned 93 points from Wine Enthusiast for its concentrated richness and structural poise.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 30 minutes of chilling to accentuate aromas. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with foie gras, spicy Asian cuisine, or blue cheeses. Enjoy now through 2040, developing profound honeyed and tertiary nuances over time.
