From Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in France's Alsace region, the Gewurztraminer Turckheim 2022 is a refined 100% Gewurztraminer sourced from younger vines (average 52 years old) on the alluvial gravelly soils of the Herrenweg vineyard near Turckheim, featuring exceptional drainage and a warm microclimate at the Munster Valley's opening that fosters early ripening and aromatic intensity. Hand-harvested grapes from the dry, warm 2022 vintage—characterized by missed rainfall leading to lower alcohol and heightened structure—undergo extended pressing, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, and lees aging to enhance complexity and terroir expression. As a biodynamic pioneer since 1998 under Olivier Humbrecht, this production yields a pale yellow wine with remarkable tension and food-friendliness.

Tasting Notes An elegant, aromatic white with floral spice and vibrant minerality, reflecting Alsace's gravelly terroir. The nose reveals subtle floral notes like yellow roses, with complex hints of spice, pepper, and reductive minerality evoking rain on pebbles. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and tight, with ripe acidity, tannins, and flavors of lychee, candied lemon, and light fruit, leading to a dry, complex finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Gewurztraminer Turckheim earned 90 points from James Suckling for its bold floral character and fresh bitterness.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 30 minutes of decanting to open aromas. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with spicy Asian dishes, foie gras, or blue cheeses. Enjoy now through 2032, developing greater honeyed and earthy nuances over time.
