From Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in France's Alsace region, the Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal 2020 is a refined 100% Pinot Gris sourced from the monopole Clos Jebsal vineyard in Riquewihr, on steep south-facing slopes at 280 meters elevation with heavy Muschelkalk limestone soils that retain heat and foster noble rot development. Hand-harvested grapes from the warm, humid 2020 vintage—marked by ideal conditions for botrytis yielding exceptional concentration—undergo extended pressing, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, and lees aging to enhance complexity and terroir expression. As a biodynamic pioneer since 1998 under Olivier Humbrecht, this production yields a deep golden wine with remarkable viscosity and longevity.

Tasting Notes An elegant, opulent white with concentrated botrytis and noble spice, reflecting Alsace's limestone terroir. The nose reveals honey, dried apricot, saffron, and hints of ginger, white truffle, and wet stone. On the palate, it is full-bodied and unctuous, with vibrant acidity balancing intense flavors of candied orange, baked pear, noble rot, and chalky minerality, leading to a long, persistent finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2020 Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal earned 95 points from James Suckling for its superb concentration and harmonious balance.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 12-14°C with 30-45 minutes of chilling to accentuate aromas. Ideal with foie gras, roasted poultry, or blue cheeses. Enjoy now through 2045, developing profound honeyed and tertiary nuances over time.
