From Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in France's Alsace region, the Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl 2018 is a refined 100% Pinot Gris sourced from the monopole Clos Windsbuhl vineyard atop the village of Hunawihr, on south-southeast-facing slopes at 350 meters elevation with rocky Muschelkalk limestone soils rich in shells, clay, and chalk that impart exceptional structure and aging potential despite the site's cooler microclimate. Hand-harvested grapes from the dry, warm 2018 vintage—marked by mild winters, dry springs, and late-September rains yielding concentrated yet balanced fruit—undergo extended pressing, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, and lees aging to enhance complexity and terroir expression. As a biodynamic pioneer since 1998 under Olivier Humbrecht, this production yields a pale gold wine with remarkable depth and restraint.

Tasting Notes An elegant, structured white with vibrant minerality and subtle spice, reflecting Alsace's limestone terroir. The nose reveals ripe pear, white flowers, almond, and hints of wet stone and dried herbs; on the palate, it offers rich texture with flavors of baked pear, candied lemon, and chalky minerality, balanced by vibrant acidity and leading to a long, saline finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2018 Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl earned 94 points from Wine Advocate for its concentrated richness and structural poise.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 30 minutes of chilling to accentuate aromas. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with foie gras, roasted poultry, or soft cheeses. Enjoy now through 2040, developing profound honeyed and tertiary nuances over time.
