From Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in France's Alsace region, the Pinot Gris Heimbourg 2018 is a refined 100% Pinot Gris sourced from the monopole Heimbourg vineyard in Turckheim, on steep south-facing slopes at 320 meters elevation with complex volcanic soils (schist, sandstone, and limestone) that impart exceptional power and longevity. Hand-harvested grapes from the dry, warm 2018 vintage—marked by mild winters, dry springs, and late-September rains yielding concentrated yet balanced fruit—undergo extended pressing, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts in old oak barrels, and lees aging to enhance complexity and terroir expression. As a biodynamic pioneer since 1998 under Olivier Humbrecht, this production yields a golden wine with remarkable intensity and structure.

Tasting Notes An elegant, powerful white with ripe stone fruit and intense minerality, reflecting Alsace's volcanic terroir. The nose reveals baked pear, mirabelle plum, almond paste, and hints of graphite and smoked herbs; on the palate, it offers opulent texture with flavors of ripe apricot, candied orange, and volcanic minerality, balanced by vibrant acidity and leading to a long, saline finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2018 Pinot Gris Heimbourg earned 95 points from Wine Advocate for its explosive aromatics and profound structure.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 10-12°C with 30 minutes of chilling to accentuate aromas. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with foie gras, roasted poultry, or blue cheeses. Enjoy now through 2045, developing profound honeyed and tertiary nuances over time.
