This wine is made from a blend of different Pinot Noir clones sourced from vineyards across Black Stallion’s Los Carneros estate in Sonoma County. The grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel, and then aged for about 8 months in barrels (85% French oak, 15% American oak, with around 20% new oak). This approach gives the wine depth and structure while preserving its delicate, fruit-forward profile. Los Carneros is a cool, maritime-influenced region that produces Pinot Noir with bright acidity, fine tannins, and expressive fruit.
Tasting Notes
Expect vibrant aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and raspberry, with subtle rose petals, forest floor, clove, and a hint of vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins and a smooth texture. Red fruit flavors of strawberry and Bing cherry are extended, balanced by earthy undertones of mushroom and truffle, and a touch of spice from the oak aging. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of cherry, cinnamon, and a hint of minerality.
Serving and Cellaring
Serve at 14–16°C. The wine is ready to drink now but can also be stored for a few years. It pairs beautifully with glazed duck breast, chicken Marsala, veal, pork, mild creamy cheeses like brie and camembert, or mushrooms.
