From Clau de Nell in France's Anjou subregion, the Grolleau 2022 is a refined 100% Grolleau sourced from 70-90-year-old vines on silty-clay soils with grit and red flint over tuffeau limestone, imparting vibrant structure and minerality. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2022 vintage undergo natural fermentation in the domaine's historic cellars, followed by 12-18 months' aging on fine lees in Burgundy oak pièces and vats to enhance complexity and purity. As a biodynamic, Demeter-certified family estate revitalized by Anne-Claude Leflaive and Christian Jacques since 2008, this production yields a ruby wine with garnet edges and remarkable elegance.

Tasting Notes An elegant, savory red with vibrant red berries and mineral freshness, reflecting Anjou's tuffeau limestone terroir. The nose reveals sour cherries, crushed stones, white pepper, and hints of wild herbs. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and light-footed, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and flavors of light red fruits, forest character, and savory spice, leading to a racy, peppery finish.

Awards and Accolades The 2022 Grolleau earned 93 points from James Suckling for its delicious transparency, precise balance, and vibrant peppery finish.

Serving and Cellaring Serve at 14-16°C with 30-45 minutes of decanting to enhance aromas. Ideal with grilled poultry, charcuterie, or mushroom dishes. Enjoy now through 2035, developing greater earthy and spice nuances over time.
