From Domaine Josmeyer in France’s Alsace region, the Riesling Le Kottabe 2023 is a refined 100% Riesling from a 0.8-hectare south-facing parcel in Turckheim on granitic soils that impart exceptional energy and structure. Hand-harvested grapes from the balanced 2023 vintage—marked by cool conditions yielding concentrated yet vibrant fruit—undergo whole-bunch pressing over 5-8 hours, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and aging in stainless steel tanks to preserve purity and vibrancy. Certified biodynamic since 2000, this production emphasizes terroir expression and minimal intervention, yielding a pale straw wine with green highlights and remarkable finesse.

Tasting Notes An elegant, precise white with vibrant citrus and subtle mineral tension, reflecting Alsace's granitic terroir. The nose reveals lime zest, green apple, white flowers, and hints of wet stone and herbs. On the palate, it is light- to medium-bodied and poised, with racy acidity, fine texture, and flavors of lemon pith, pear, and chalky minerality, leading to a long, saline finish.

Awards and Accolades 91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "From fruit cultivated in a part of Hengst limestone that was affected by the drought, the 2023 Riesling Le Kottabe opens with a fine and discreet yet already impressively complex nose of ripe and dense fruit intermingled with elegant and distinctive earthy notes. Soft and round on the palate, this is a medium-bodied, well balanced and stimulating saline as well as crunchy Riesling with ripe, lush and well-concentrated fruit and citrus fruit zests on the stimulating, serious and structured finish that represents the dry vintage that forced them to press with high pressure to get any juice and structure from the grapes. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam 5 cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2024."

Serving and Cellaring Serve chilled at 8-10°C without decanting to maintain freshness. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with shellfish, light salads, or goat cheese. Enjoy now through 2033, during which it will develop subtle petrol and honeyed nuances.
